FAQs

Chiropractic Care

Our chiropractors undergo a five year, full time degree, qualifying them to carry out a full medical and health history examination, x-rays plus neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic tests in order to diagnose your complaint.

Chiropractic treatment will be offered if appropriate to your condition and a plan will be tailored to your individual needs. Alternatively if our chiropractors are unable to help they will make the necessary referral to the appropriate practitioner. You do not need a GP referral to see a chiropractor.

Chiropractors use a range of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility, including hands-on manipulation of the spine. A Chiropractic adjustment is specific and focused while being safe and a completely natural approach to healing. As well as manual treatment, chiropractors are able to offer a package of care which includes advice on self-help, therapeutic exercises and lifestyle changes.

Chiropractic treatment involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly. Apart from manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, ultrasound, exercise, acupuncture, and cupping, as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.

For more information, please watch this informative video and visit our ‘What is Chiropractic‘ page for more information and videos.

Yes.

Chiropractic is a regulated healthcare profession, all of our Chiropractors are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and the British Chiropractic Association (BCA). These are memberships that are renewed annually and the Chiropractors must complete training throughout the year to keep themselves current and to allow them to remain on the register.

We will ask you to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time in order to fill in the necessary paperwork.

During your first appointment the Chiropractor will take a detailed medical history and  explain their treatment plan with you. They will then gain your written and verbal consent for treatment and if deemed clinically necessary will treat you according to their findings.

For more information, please watch this informative video on ‘What to expect when you visit a Chiropractor‘.

This is a hard one to answer, it’s a bit of a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question.

The easiest way to answer this is by explaining that if you come to us with a problem that you have suffered with for a number of years its unlikely that you’ll be ‘better’ in a flash. However, this is something that is assessed by yourself and your Chiropractor at every appointment, and we certainly aren’t going to keep you coming back unnecessarily.

New patient consultation with treatment – £70 (we take a £20 deposit at the time of booking to hold your appointment if you book over the phone. We take full payment at time of booking if booked online.)

Treatment per visit – £40

Reassessment Treatment – £45

Visit our Services tab for more information.

Please wear loose clothing so that our Chiropractors can treat you easily. Sometimes they may ask you to change into a gown in they feel they need to. In this case, the Chiropractor will step out of the room and allow you to change and knock on the door to check you are ready before re-entering.

Treatment is not normally painful but some people experience some discomfort, however this is often short lived.

We would prefer it if you came to your appointment on your own if possible. If you require someone to translate or help support you during your appointment we will happily accommodate this.

We do not have the facilities to offer any imaging at our clinic however we have links to a number of private hospitals and clinics that offer a multitude of imaging, including x-rays and MRI’s. If your Chiropractor thinks it is clinically necessary to get some imaging done they will discuss this with you and make the appropriate referrals.

In short, no!

As professionals we assess each patient on their individual needs. We provide safe, evidence based techniques, tailor suited to each individual patient. The videos floating around of people receiving ‘full body cracks’ are showmanship at best, and dangerous at worst and we do not offer this at our clinic, nor do we think it is appropriate for treatments to be filmed.

Yes, we accept students who are interested in Chiropractic, or who are doing an associated degree to come and shadow our Chiropractors. Due to confidentiality and privacy considerations we will only accept people who are 18 years old or above. If this is something that you are interested in please contact the clinic manager, Fabienne Rose, on fab@lrcc.uk with a copy of your C.V.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues with subacute, subchronic and chronic conditions. The energy promotes regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues.

Its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. Together with being a non-surgical therapy with no need for painkillers makes it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and cure various indications causing acute or chronic pain

The number of treatments varies depending on the indication and tissue response. The effect of the treatment is cumulative, so you will typically need more than one (3–5) treatment. Very often though, you will experience relief right after the first treatment.

Most indications require 3–5 treatments which are done 3–10 days apart, depending on the patient’s tolerance and their tissue response.

New Patient – £90

Follow up patients – £65

Visit our services tab for more information.

It is recommended that patients refrain from physical activity, especially one that would involve the treated region, for about 48 hours following each treatment session.

Insurance Information

Yes, we accept Bupa Insurance with our Chiropractor Tim Hutchful. In order to book in using Bupa insurance, please do so by calling us on 01162542380, please do not book online. You must have your membership number, authorisation code and your excess when you call to book, we will not be able to book you in without this information.

No, we no longer accept AXA insurance.

AXA has recently changed how they require us to submit invoices and have introduced additional fees for doing so. Unfortunately, as insurance patients already come with higher administrative costs, these new changes have made it too difficult for us to continue working directly with AXA.

For all insurers other than BUPA and AXA, we kindly ask that you pay upfront for your treatment and then claim reimbursement directly from your insurance provider — a process that has worked smoothly for our patients over the past few years. This essentially means that all other insurance companies we have encountered accept this process.

Online Booking & Payments

You can book appointments 24/7 via our online booking portal by clicking Book Now at the top of our site. You’ll choose your service, practitioner, date and time, then enter your details to reserve the slot.

The direct link to our online booking is found here.

Yes — all online bookings require payment at the time of booking. Payment details are securely processed and stored by our online booking and diary system in line with industry security standards. These details are used only to manage your booking (including cancellations or late notice fees). We do not store card details on our own clinic systems.

We accept major debit and credit cards (e.g., Visa, Mastercard). Cash can only be accepted if you book over the phone.

If you have trouble booking online, please call us on 0116 2542380 during clinic hours and our team will assist you. You can also email fab@lrcc.uk and Fabienne will aim to assist you on the same day.

Due to system requirements, you cannot book a Bupa insurance appointment online — please call us to book these. For all other insurers, you can book online because the onus will be on you to claim back through your insurance company. We no longer accept AXA insurance.

When this happens, it usually means you have logged in using different details — such as a different email address or a slightly different spelling of your name. This can cause the system to create a second account. If this has happened, please let us know and we can merge your records to resolve it. You can call us on 01162542380 or email fab@lrcc.uk with your name and date of birth.

No, this is not an automatic process. If you require a refund due to a cancellation, please let us know and we will issue one promptly, provided the cancellation falls within our cancellation policy. Once a refund has been processed, it can take 3–5 working days to appear in your bank account.

If you want to change your appointment and transfer your original payment, you must choose “Reschedule” rather than “Cancel.” Rescheduling moves your existing payment across to the new appointment, so you will not be charged again.

If you have already cancelled and rebooked, and as a result have paid twice, please contact us on 0116 254 2380 or email fab@lrcc.uk, and we will arrange a refund in line with our cancellation policy.

If you’re unsure, just keep clicking back until you see the appointment selection screen again. From there, you can choose the correct option and continue with your booking.

Massage for Health and Clarendon Therapy Services

In order to book in to see Clarendon Therapy Services, or Michele White our massage therapist, please contact them directly. We do not deal with their bookings. Please visit our services tab for more information.

Unfortunately, clients for Clarendon Therapy Services cannot use our car park. Please see our How To Find Us page for information on alternative parking.

This is a slightly more complicated answer. If you have a Saturday or a Wednesday appointment then yes you can use our car park, however do not assume there will be space and leave plenty of time to find alternative parking if that’s the case.

If your appointment with Michele is on a Tuesday or a Thursday there will be no opportunity for you to use our parking facilities and we would kindly ask that you use alterative parking, without checking first for space. On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s we have all 4 chiropractors working and parking is a real issue so we do not want to add to that chaos. Many thanks in advance for honouring this request.

Please visit our ‘How to find us‘ tab to see alternative parking options.

Anyone renting a room from us are professionals within their own rights and have all the appropriate registrations and association memberships necessary to do their jobs.
